This volume of General Laws of the colony of Connecticut, 1650, was transcribed from the original for the American Antiquarian Society by order of the General Assembly of Connecticut in 1817. It contains "the Code of Connecticut, compiled by order of the General Court in the year 1650; comprising the constitution of civil government established by the freemen, and the body of Statute laws then in force, arranged under appropriate titles in alphabetical order" (title page). The volume was examined in 1817 by Thomas Day, Secretary of State. The laws were drawn up for the inhabitants of Windsor, Hartford, and Wethersfield and concern such topics as "Arrests, Marriage, Indians, Inditements, Death Untimely, Cruelty," etc.
